Hi! I’m Dana, the girl behind Behavioral Interventions And Solutions, LLC (BIAS.)
BIAS was created after noticing the lack of ABA resources, specifically designed with parents in mind. My goal is to empower parents by providing them with affordable and easy to use tools for managing challenging behaviors.
Let me tell you a little more about myself.
My mom is a retired Speech-Language Pathologist, and my dad is Deafblind. Therefore, my exposure to individuals with disabilities began at a very young age. That coupled with my passion for working with children led me here today.
When I headed off to college, becoming a BCBA and starting my own business wasn’t even on my radar. In fact, at that time, I didn’t even know what a BCBA was. I graduated with a B.S. in Communication Disorders and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education.
The year 2008 was a really difficult time for new college graduates; especially a twenty-two year old girl with a master’s degree and zero experience.
In the first few years out of college, I held every job imaginable within the public school system . I worked as a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, and speech-language assistant, to name a few. Even though each job was different, there was a common thread: all were in the field of special education.
It was then that I realized I was meant to work in this field.
I began my coursework in behavior analysis. As much as I loved teaching children, I developed a passion for working with their parents as well.
I enjoyed talking through the problem solving process that surrounded challenging behavior. In addition to coming up with functional and practical strategies, that were easy for parents to implement on their own.
That is when the seed for this company began to grow. It has been my dream all along to reach parents who may not be able to easily access BCBA support. I want to give them the tools to feel empowered to face challenging behaviors head on. Thus the creation of Behavioral Interventions And Solutions.
Whether you are a parent or a professional, it is my hope that resources found at BIAS will be just the thing you are looking for!
